Miley Cyrus hit New York's Rockefeller Plaza on Friday 28th August for her "Today" show appearance and, despite rainy weather, her fans turned out in huge numbers to catch a glimpse of the pop star and to hear her sing a selection of her songs.
Wearing a black blazer, T-shirt, necklaces, torn straight jeans and ankle boots, Miley Cyrus sang "Party in the U.S.A." (her pole-dance song from the Teen Choice Awards), "The Climb," "See You Again" and "Kicking and Screaming." She also talked a bit about her new LP, Time of Our Lives, being released on August 31 at Wal-Mart stores, which she said features the edgier, rockier musical direction she's been moving toward.

"This album was a step towards my next album. I want to be able to step out and maybe take a break for a while and write music that inspires me," she said. "I think there's always a formula ... I think the best way to do that is put it out of the way and do something new."

The singer also talked about her upcoming acting projects, which include the next season of "Hannah Montana" and her new film, "The Last Song," both of which launch in January.

"It's gonna be crazy 'cause in January, that's when 'The Last Song' comes out, so that's going to be kind of rad and kind of dark and kind of a drama. And go back to 'Hannah Montana.' It's going to be great," she said. "It is the best of both worlds."

Cyrus also discussed what it feels like to be a role model to young girls and said that she isn't the "perfect girl," adding that she is bound to make mistakes just like any other 16-year-old. "I'm not here to say I'm perfect 'cause I'm far from it," she said. "My mistakes are kind of a little bit harder because they are in front of millions and millions of people. It's hard sometimes to smile about it, but it also makes you want to try harder the next time."

Gosselin kids go back to school

Although Jon and Kate Gosselin are in the middle of a public divorce, life must go on in the Gosselin household, which means their kids are heading back to school.

"They're all jazzed up about riding on the bus," Jon Gosselin says of his children. "I'm happy too, because now I don't have to drive them to school."

At the bus pickup point in a local parking lot, Jon and Kate arrived in separate cars around 7 a.m. Twins Cara and Mady, 9, rode with their mom, then ran to hug their dad before boarding. Kate walked onto the bus with them, stayed a couple minutes, then got off – as Jon remained in the parking lot, pacing and appearing to be texting on his phone.

While Mady and Cara were shipped off to the third grade Thursday, Friday will see the sextuplets start junior kindergarten, which is only three days a week, says Gosselin. "Next year will be kindergarten for the little kids, and it will be five days a week," he says.

Gosselin tells PEOPLE that 5-year-olds Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Aaden and Collin are not all ready for kindergarten yet because they were "preemies."

So, despite their same ages, when it comes to class assignments, "They'll definitely split them up by personality," says their father. "Alexis and Collin are definitely not going to be classmates."

Britney Spears gets to vote in Afghan Election

US pop idol Britney Spears will be voting in Afghanistan’s national election tomorrow?

It may be laughable, but a voter registration card was actually issued in her name. Copies of the card were widely emailed and pinned up in a Kabul hotel bar, reports Reuters.

It’s being used as the latest outlandish example of how fraud threatens to mar - if not derail – an expensive ($223 million) and important step in the country’s stability and development.

Votes for sale:

“Voter registration cards are for sale by the handful on the streets of Afghan cities and villages,” according to the Reuters report. “One Afghan man in a village not far from Kabul had a sackful of cards buried by a stream at the back of his house, for sale to anyone who asked – but he’d prefer if they were used to vote for President Hamid Karzai.”

“Thousands of voting cards have been offered for sale and thousands of dollars have been offered in bribes to buy votes,” reports BBC, which did an undercover investigation into the matter. “We were passed information that voting cards were being sold in the capital. An Afghan working for the BBC went undercover, posing as a potential buyer. He was offered 1,000 cards on the spot. Each one would cost about $10.”

Plans to steal the election in Taliban strongholds?

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s Independent Election Commission (IEC) said that President Karzai’s supporters were trying to force it to not to close polling stations in Taliban strongholds where voting cannot be properly monitored, The Daily Telegraph reports.

“The opinion polls say Karzai is five per cent short of the 50 per cent he needs to win without a second round. That’s probably around 500,000 votes. These 443 stations could mean more than a million votes, enough to swing the election,” he said.

Well, no one said it would be perfect.

That’s the point Western officials are scrambling to make in order to manage expectations.

“If you are talking about free and fair [elections] in terms of an established democracy, then I think that goes beyond the expectations of a country like Afghanistan, in conflict with weak structures and institutions,” said Kai Eide, the UN special representative in Afghanistan. “[These are] the most complicated elections I have seen anywhere in the world.”

If certain influential parties - many notorious warlords among them - are not satisfied with the integrity of the vote, there will be concerns of fresh violence.

But no one should pay too much attention to the mechanics of the vote, says Anthony Cordesman of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington.

“Afghan perceptions of the results of the vote will be far more important than outside efforts to observe the election and determine whether it will be honest by Western standards,” wrote Mr. Cordesman in a recent piece on the legitimacy of the vote. “If Afghans feel the election was legitimate by their standards, it will be a sign of major progress regardless of how outsiders judge the mechanics. If they divide in anger along ethnic or sectarian lines, and if the end result is more divisive than unifying, the election will be a failure. ”

Dion, 41, is reported to have earned $100 million between June 2008 and 2009, putting her just a few million behind "elder stateswoman of music" Madonna, 50, with $110 million.

Beyonce Knowles, at 27, earned $87 million during the period and Twilight author Stephenie Meyer, 35, took in $50 million with her series of vampire books that had teens and tweens flocking to bookstores and movie theatres.

For the second year in a row, Katy Perry is all over the MTV Video Music Awards, as the success of her smash-hit album, One of the Boys, maintains its impressive chart run. She's nominated this year in the Best Female Video category for "Hot N Cold," and when MTV asked her to appear in the VMA "West Side Story" promotional skit, she was kind enough to join the party.
"I play Anita," Perry said on set at Brooklyn's Navy Yard. "Although I know I should be playing Natalie Wood's part, which is being played by Taylor Swift, because I've got the big eyes and the brown hair. But everyone keeps telling me Anita is hotter, cooler and sluttier. So I can relate to that!"

Always the showstopper, Katy Perry has become known for her outlandish outfits. She wore 12 different outfits as host of the 2008 EMAs. Come September, she's looking forward to the challenge of yet again surprising fans with something new.

"I'm excited about that process, because you can wear all kinds of crazy things to the VMAs," she said. "It's not like the other awards shows where you have to be popular and pretty and stuff. I'd come and look like a real-life cat if I wanted to ... or just a strawberry."

And if last year's event set a precedent, some form of fruit might actually be in the running for what Perry is going to wear.

"Last year, I had a jumper made, and it had a banana on it, because everyone knows I'm obsessed with fruit. I don't know why. But bananas are kind of cool. ... Canadian Superstar Singer Celine Dion Pregnant Again

Canadian superstar singer Celine Dion is pregnant with her second child after undergoing fertility treatment at a clinic in New York, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The Journal de Montreal said Dion, 41, was due to give birth next May. Dion, who has made no secret of her wish to have another child, already has a eight-year-old son with husband Rene Angelil.

Dion's official website carried no mention of the reported pregnancy. Montreal is the largest city in the predominantly French-speaking province of Quebec, where Dion was born.

She is one of the world's top selling female singers and last year earned more than $235 million from her first world tour in eight years, according to trade publication Pollstar.

In 2003 she began a residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and grossed more than $385 million by the time the final show ended in December 2007.

The Journal de Montreal said Dion had been due to return to Las Vegas for another series of shows in late 2010.

Brad Pitt is talking and has admitted in a magazine interview that he and Angelina Jolie hire babysitters for their growing family so they can "go away and get dirty". Pitt, 46, insisted that being parents is the "ultimate teamwork" that helps him and the Salt actress keep their bond strong. But he also admitted that there are times when they need to get away from their six children and concentrate on the physical side of their relationship.

"Parenting can become hectic, but it is also great fun. In fact, it is the ultimate teamwork," Brad said. "I love each of my children individually and equally and my life is richer because of them," he said. "I could not imagine my life without them. "But when all else fails, Mummy and Daddy need to hire a babysitter, go away and get dirty."

The Inglourious Basterds star also repeated his claim that he and Jolie will not "consider" getting wed until gay marriage is legal in the US. And he used that claim to make a cheeky joke about close friend George Clooney. "I'd like to reiterate that Angie and I will not be getting married until George and his partner can legally do so. Jon & Kate: Jon Swears "It's Not a Midlife Crisis"

Hours after Kate Gosselin tearfully said she was "shocked" that her estranged husband had begun dating soon after their split, one of Jon Gosselin"s former gal pals is speaking out.
Ex-Star reporter Kate Major sat down with E! News anchor Giuliana Rancic for a two-night interview this week to reveal how her whirlwind romance with the father of eight took a turn for the worse.

Major called the 32-year-old octodad a "liar" for denying they had a relationship.

"We had plans to travel together, to live together and to be together," the 26-year-old said of the reality show dad, who she was spotted with only twice -- once in Manhattan and once in the Hamptons in July. "He made his decision in the Hamptons. He wanted to be with me."

However, Gosselin was telling a different story last week.

He reportedly said his relationship with the blabbing blonde was strictly platonic, and that he had remained faithful to 22-year-old Hailey Glassman, the daughter of his ex"s plastic surgeon.

Kate 2.0 claims the reality star said he was going to call things off with Glassman to be with her.

As a result, Major resigned from her tabloid reporting job, saying it was a "conflict of interest."

"I was with the person I was reporting on," Major said. "He"s the one who actually told me to quit my job. … He told me he was going to Massachusetts to break up with her. I know the truth. He knows the truth. Unfortunately, she did not."

However, Gosselin and Glassman were recently spotted holding hands in New York in a new video on RadarOnline.com.

When asked if they were still a couple, they said they have always been together.

Major begs to differ.

"In no way did he tell me he was going to go parade with his ex-girlfriend. He tried to two-time both of us. He wasn't honest with Hailey. He needs to man up and tell the truth. I"m not going to be the other woman."

Well, Kate 2.0, technically you"re one of two other women.

Major continued to whine about her short-lived relationship with the octodad, insisting she has proof that they were "romantically involved."

"I was not the only one who was around when we were romantically involved," she said. "We were holed up together. It"s not like we were just sitting there doing an interview."

Major is most likely talking about Lindsay Lohan"s fame-loving father, Michael, who quickly weaseled his way into the reality star"s life when paparazzi followed.

Because Gosselin has denied ever dating Major, she said claims that she lied to get media attention have been hard to handle.

"It"s been a nightmare. I did not want to have to do this," she said. "I did not want to have to sell him out, but when he makes me look like a liar, a fool and an idiot, I have to speak out."

Although Gosselin abruptly canceled his two-part interview with the cable channel yesterday, he did offer some last words about Kate 2.0.

Said Jon: "I'm happy that she"s out of my life."

Jennifer Aniston ‘to star in Goree Girls’

Actress Jennifer Aniston is reportedly set to star in “Goree Girls,” which is to be directed by Michael Sucsy.
Also, Overnight Prods’- which plans to finance the film- Rick Schwartz and Aaron Kaufman have joined the beauty and her Echo Films partner Kristin Hahn as producers.

The plot of the film will revolve around the eight women who formed one of the first all-girl C&W acts in the country, became a public favorite and were eventually pardoned.

Michael, who helmed “Grey Gardens”, which earned 17 Emmy Award nominations for HBO, will be making his feature directorial debut with the movie.

The helmer plans to adapt from the most recent draft by John Lee Hancock, who rewrote an original by Margaret Nagle based on a 2003 Texas Monthly article by Skip Hollandsworth.

He feels that it is similar to his earlier work in its essence.

“If you connect the dots between these projects, I think they are both survivor stories, about people whose human spirit doesn’t give up, and it’s musically driven, the way ‘Grey Gardens’ was,” the Variety quoted him as saying.

He added: “There is something about music that invigorates the spirit to keep going, even when you don’t have freedom.”

Victoria Beckham Delighted with Amrican Idol Guest Slot

Victoria Beckham is "beyond excited" to be joining reality TV show American Idol as a guest judge because she's long been a fan of the series.
The former Spice Girl will appear alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi for one episode when the hit show returns to TV screens next year.

Beckham is overjoyed to have been offered the role, because she and her kids with husband David Beckham are regulars at the show's Los Angeles tapings.

In an interview with radio DJ Ryan Seacrest, who is also host of American Idol, she says, "When I got the phone call, I just couldn't believe it. I feel like I've got the best job that there is."

"I come to the shows with the kids and David loves the show so, it's just great. I'm going to try hard to pout and try not to shatter that illusion that I'm a moody cow, but I'm just so happy."

Beckham is looking forward to having words with Cowell too, who has earned himself a reputation as Mr. Nasty, thanks to his sharp tongue: "I like that fact that's he's honest. I think he's very funny. He has a very tongue-in-cheek British sense of humor, which I have too. I'm looking forward to a bit of banter. I hope he does give me a little bit of a hard time. I love that. I feed off of that."

The singer-turned-fashion designer will appear in place of Paula Abdul after Abdul quit the show earlier this week.

And Beckham has nothing but kind words for the star: "I hope she does something that's bigger and better. I'm a big fan of Paula's, I always have been, of her music. She's going to be great at whatever she does."

Daniel Baldwin and Wife Welcome Baby Girl

Hollywood actor Daniel Baldwin is a new dad - his wife Joanne gave birth to a baby girl on Friday morning, August 7, 2009.

The couple welcomed little Finley Rae Martineau Baldwin at 9.35am at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

The tot, which weighed in at seven pounds, 10 ounces, is a sister for their 19-month-old daughter Avis Ann.

Confirming the news to People.com, Baldwin's representative says, "(Avis) is excited to meet her new little sister."

The Mulholland Falls star has been married to former model Joanne for two years.

Baldwin, 48, also has three other children from previous relationships: daughter Kahlea, who was born in 1984, during his first marriage to Cheryl Baldwin; Alexandra, who was born in 1994 to his second wife Elizabeth, and 13-year-old son Atticus from his romance with actress Isabella Hofmann.

A woman who sought treatment from Dr. Phil 25 years ago has charged him of sexually abusing her. She said his sexual advances destroyed her whole life.

Dr. Phil is a talk show hosted by Phil McGraw. After McGraw's success with his segments on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Dr. Phil debuted on September 16, 2002. On both shows McGraw offers advice in the form of "life strategies" from his experience as a clinical psychologist.

The show is in syndication throughout the United States and Canada, as well as a number of other countries. Also, the show's syndication contracts specifically state that if Dr. Phil is on another station, it cannot air at the same time as Oprah.

Its sixth season premiered on September 10, 2007, and it was announced on August 3, 2005, that it has been renewed through at least 2013, or eleven seasons. Occasional prime time specials have aired on CBS.

The woman Sara Morrison says she was a shy college sophomore 25 years ago, but she is still haunted by what she says happened to her.

“Not a single day has gone by when I haven’t been affected by what Phil McGraw did to me. He profoundly affected the course of my life,” Morrison reveals in the August 17 issue of The National Enquirer, on newsstands this week.

Tyra Banks and Hilary Duff - Gossip Girl Behind The Scenes

The cast and crew of Gossip Girl took over midtown this week and welcomed Tyra Banks and Hilary Duff to the fold.

The show filmed scenes Wednesday of a fictitious movie premiere for "Fleur" at the Ziegfeld Theater, creating a strange mix as real paparazzi and fans mingled with extras dressed as paparazzi and fans. According to security, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick, Blake Lively and guest co-stars Tyra Banks and Hilary Duff shot interiors during the day and exterior red carpet scenes Wednesday night until after midnight.

In the scene filming Wednesday and Thursday night, which airs October 5, Tyra Banks plays an actress named Ursula Nyquist who gets into a fight with Serena at a film premiere. Duff's character, Olivia Burke who takes a break from acting and returns to college, co-stars with Banks in the movie.

For the most part Wednesday, stars kept out of public view. "Security is being a bunch of (bleeps) today," a grip told RadarOnline.com "They're really being pushy." Briefly around noon, flanked by two beefy security guards, Lively dashed from her trailer to another in a blur of blond hair, wearing Wayfarers and sporting dangerously skimpy short-shorts. Ed Westwick, noticeably bulked up, was spotted earlier outside his trailer blabbing away on his cell and wearing a porkpie hat.

Hilary Duff, also wearing a porkpie hat seemed to fit right in with the cast and looked relaxed while drinking a diet coke and carrying what looks to be a script. She joked around with Badgley outside trailers and her hockey boyfriend Mike Comrie stopped by the set for lunch.

On her way to the set shortly before midnight, RadarOnline.com nearly ran over Leighton Meester, who was smiling and friendly with fans. Looking drop-dead gorgeous in a silky yellow dress, we completely forgot to ask her about the sex tape she denied existed Shame.

The set was relaxed and casual Wednesday, but Tuesday seemed a little tense. Gerard Butler Denies Dating Jennifer Aniston

Gerard Butler has denied rumours he’s dating Jennifer Aniston - but says if he was, he'd be shouting it from the rooftops.

The star of 300 and RockNRolla was talking about the former Friends star on GMTV today and joked: "If I was, I would say I was."

Speaking to Carla Romano, the Scottish heart-throb admitted he’s still single but says he does get to kiss Jennifer in their their new movie The Bounty which the pair are currently shooting.

Gerard said of the rumours: "It’s just that if you’re not married in Hollywood and you’re working with somebody else who’s single – you’re having a thing with her."

Asked if he had kissed Jennifer yet, Gerard replied, "I haven’t done it yet, but I’m excited... I’m lucky, yeah I know."

Gerard also had a go at presenting the weather while on the show.

Casting his eye across the weather map, he said: "Temperatures will be, I’m guessing, lower in the north and a little bit warmer in the south," adding, "Surprise, surprise, there’s going to be rain in Glasgow".

GMTV usual weather presenter Clare Nasir laughed: "He’s such a pro."

Jessica Alba shows frolics with her husband Cash Warren

Last time Jessica was snapped on the beach she covered up in a kaftan.

But last day, Jessica Alba showed off her fabulous figure as she relaxed on the beach with her husband Cash Warren.

The 28-year-old actress, who had her first daughter last year, has absolutely no trace of mummy tummy - looking completely lean and trim in her striped bikini.

The gorgeous couple hung out in the water, chatting and hugging, and then made their way up the sand for a spot of sunbathing.

The pair must have been taking a tiny bit of time off from being new parents as there was no sign of their daughter - 13-month-old Honor Marie.
This year alone, she has filmed roles in drama An Invisible Sign of My Own and murder mystery The Killer Inside Me.

She is currently filming her third movie this year, starring alongside Ashton Kutcher, Anne Hathaway, Julia Roberts and Jessica Biel, entitled Valetine's Day.

Writing on her MySpace page this month, Jessica also revealed she is working on a top secret project.

She said: 'I have been working hard on a few new projects that I think you guys will hopefully love.

'I am really trying to push myself beyond my comfort zone. Will come back soon and post more details.'

India first televised "suayamvar 'concluded here late Sunday with a choice of girl Rakhi Sauant selection of Toronto-based Elesh Parujanuala his life as a partner in a unique reality TV shou.

The NDTV Zamislite's Rakhi to Suayamvar, Rakhi make the final selection of three finalists - from the original list of 16 competitors in 26 episodes. The other two finalists are young probationer Manas Katyal and businessman Chhitiz Jain, both from New Delhi.

"I was watching Elesh days. On and off camera, he also has really taken care for me. This is all that I was looking for and I'm glad to have found the Suayamvar. The suayamvar means finding life partner, and found Elesh.

"Today is our engagement. I'm ready to be married now, but we need to understand one another better camera. Vjenčati soon before you all in accordance with our traditions," said Rakhi after announcing its choice of waiting in the audience throughout the country.

Decked in red and gold lehenga-choli people by Neeta Lulla and kundan jewelry, Rakhi looked perfect daughter.

Elesh, Manas and Chhitiz too were dressed for the occasion - in the traditional sheruanis and turbans.

In the dramatic finale, she garlanded Elesh - as the audience pljeskala on.

The Colorful event, which was held in Hotel Leela Kampinsky in Mumbai on Sunday, saw a lot of personality choreographer Saroj Khan, Ravi Kishen actors and Ram Kapoor, who are brothers, as a daughter-in-law, in addition to others such as Smith Bansal and Sudha Shivpuri in the audience.
