Michael Jackson #1, Megan Fox includes in Yahoo's 2009 Top 10 Searches

A research was conducted by Yahoo according to which it became known that penny-pinching users are escaping to the Web in order to follow news and get their guilty pleasures.
Michael Jackson ranked the first position on this year’s list of Top 10 Overall Searches for 2009, because of his popularity and reasons of his death. The rising celebrity Megan Fox occurred in fourth place and Britney Spears was in the fifth.

As Yahoo released the top 10 most popular searches on internet:

It is hard to believe, it's December already. Beyond the holiday rush, one thing that means is that many are already looking towards the year 2010, and in this case the new decade.

That also means that the "recaps" and "best of lists" for year 2009 are already on top of level.

Yahoo! has presented their 2009 - Year in Review, which among other things features their top internet searches of the year. Not surprisingly, Transformers and more specifically the blockbuster movie Revenge of the Fallen are well represented. In fact, ROTF actress Megan Fox ranks #4 in Yahoo's overall Top 10 most searched list. Here is what Yahoo! had to say about her ranking.

Like her or not, Megan Fox was one of the biggest stories of 2009. Best known for looking sultry on the red carpet and acting offended when compared to Angelina Jolie, Ms. Fox also made (more) headlines by bashing "Transformers," the film franchise that made her famous.

But then "Jennifer's Body" hit theaters. After the hipster horror flick headlined by Fox tanked at the box office, the oft-ogled starlet changed her tune about the robots in disguise.

Although some question Ms. Fox's ability to sell tickets, nobody can doubt her canny ability to drive searches wild.

Janet Jackson Blames Doctor for Michael Jackson's Death

Janet Jackson is very clear about who she thinks should be held responsible for the tragic death of her brother, Michael Jackson.
Dr. Conrad Murray "was the one that was administering [propofol]," she says in a new interview with Robin Roberts on ABC News, referring to the powerful anesthetic that killed the star. "I think he is responsible."

Murray, who has admitted administering propofol to the singer, has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

Janet Jackson, 43, also describes how she found out her brother had been rushed to the hospital – and how she later learned the shocking news that he'd passed away.

"I was at my house in New York. You know, another day. Another morning. And I get a call ... [My assistant] said, 'Your brother's been taken to the hospital. It's on CNN right now,'" Janet tells Roberts. "I called everyone's … There's a line busy or someone wasn't picking up. I spoke to mother. I spoke to Tito. I spoke to my nephew Austin. I spoke to my sister La Toya.

"I told them to call me when they got to the hospital. And I remember thinking nobody's calling me back, so I tried calling again, and that's how I found out that he was no longer ... I couldn't believe it," she said. "It just didn't ring true to me. It felt like a dream."

Even now, she says, "It's still so difficult for me to believe. It's, you know, you have to accept what is. But it's hard. You have to move on with your life. You have to accept what is and I understand that."

As for how she's coping she says, "It's been a tough year … And a day doesn't go by that I don't think about him."

Sony Bids $50 Million for Michael Jackson's Rehearsal Footage

Fans who feel robbed of the chance to see what Michael Jackson had in store for the world in his comeback concerts may be able to see for themselves, and soon.

Footage from Jackson's rehearsals is likely headed for the big screen.

Kenny Ortega, the director of Jackson's show who is best known as the director of "High School Musical," is already beginning to cobble together images of the King of Pop as he prepared for his "This Is It!" concerts that were scheduled to take place in London this summer, Variety reports.

The movie could be in theaters before the end of the year, and possibly as early as October.

Ortega shot 80 hours of Jackson perfecting his songs, dance routines and stage show, as well as at least three new music videos that were to be used in the concerts.

One of those is a 3-D version of "Thriller," though it's unclear whether the new feature film would present that segment in 3-D.

A bidding war erupted in Hollywood after concert promoter, AEG Entertainment, shopped the footage to movie studios late last week, blogger Nikki Finke first reported on Deadline Hollywood Daily.

On Monday Sony, which has an inside track because it owns the rights to Jackson's music, was close to sealing the deal, Variety reports.

AEG started the bidding at $50 million according to Finke, and Sony has offered to ante up to acquire the worldwide distribution rights.

AEG also showed the footage to Paramount, Universal, 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros.

The winner will produce the movie along with AEG and Jackson's estate.

AEG is also shopping rights to a TV special on Jackson that would air in September, starting at $10 million, as well as TV and video rights to the August 29 tribute concert that is set to include performances by Michael's sister Janet, Justin Timberlake, and others and which would use the band that was rehearsing with Jackson, according to Variety.

AEG Entertainment is hoping to recoup the $30 million it put into staging the concerts, as well as lost box office and other expected sales, including merchandise and food.

Thought the Jackson estate will share the rewards of any deal, his family has no say in who gets the rights to the footage, because none of them were placed in charge of the estate, MSNBC reports.



Jackson's mother, Katherine, is seeking a judge's ruling on whether she can contest the authority of the estate's administrators without triggering a "no contest" clause in the will that would cause her to be disinherieted.
